More than 100,000 AMR Robots to be shipped in 2021

According to a recent report from Interact Analysis, more than 100,000 mobile robots, including Automated Guided Robots (AGV Robots) and Automated Mobile Robots (AMR Robots) will be shipped globally by 2021. Overall , the number of robots shipped in 2021 increased 70% year-over-year, resulting in a 36% increase in revenue.

Sales for mobile robots AMR hit nearly $3 billion by 2021. For the first time in more than 40 years, AMR overtook AGV in revenue last year. AMR brings in $1.6 billion annually, while AGV comes in close to $300 million.

AGV also trails AMR in terms of units shipped. In 2021, 82,000 AMRs will be shipped, compared with 18,000 AGVs. Analysts expect that both markets will continue to grow. By 2025, it is estimated that AMR shipments will reach 640,000 products, while AGV shipments will only reach 43,000 products

The largest market for mobile robots is China, accounting for 40% of total shipments worldwide by 2021. China is followed by the United States, accounting for more than 25% of total shipments.

The analytics predict that by 2025, almost two million robots will be installed globally. China and the US are expected to play large roles in the market, but other countries facing high labor costs, low unemployment and high levels of e-commerce penetration will also grow. .

One such country is the UK, which is said to have shipped 2,300 units in 2021. By 2025, analysts expect that number to increase by 700% by 2025, reaching More than 18,500 units were shipped. Countries with lower labor costs, like India, are expected to grow more slowly. In 2021, India has 566 mobile robots shipped and this number is expected to grow to 2,700 by 2025.

Mobile robots are flexible, cost-effective, and scalable, making them easy to deploy in a variety of industries. Mobile robot sales are often driven by demand from logistics, especially e-commerce. It is therefore not surprising that mobile robots have seen so much growth in the merchandise sector, including retailers outside of apparel and groceries.

22,000 units were shipped to general merchandise retailers by 2021. General merchandise retailers were followed by the auto industry, with 15,000 units. Interactive Analytics projects the general merchandise sector to grow 600% by 2025, reaching more than 154,000 shipments.

Mobile robots have also grown with third-party logistics companies (3PLs). 3PLs are often hesitant to automate, as large-scale integrated automation solutions can be costly and timely to deploy. Mobile robots eliminate those problems and can keep pace with the booming 3PL industry.

Overall growth in the mobile robotics industry peaked when the first AMR company achieved ‘unicorn’ status. Last year, Locus Robotics reached a valuation of one billion dollars.

AMR isn’t the only robot to grow in 2021. Last year, last year set a new record for industrial robots sold in North America, with 39,708 units shipped, according to the Association for Advanced Automation. the set.
