Embedded Computer: PLC and Motion Control in Small Format
PC technology and I/O level as a unit:
With the CX series of embedded PCs, Beckhoff combines PC technology with modular I/O levels to create a space-saving industrial controller on a DIN rail. As standard, terminals from the Beckhoff I/O range can be connected directly to the right side of any embedded PC. The terminals are only plugged into the embedded PC; contact is established by clicking the location, no further action is required.
Due to the ability to connect I/O systems directly, the cost of additional couplers is eliminated, less work and the controller can be implemented in a compact and space-saving control cabinet. . As a result, control cabinets and terminal blocks can be made smaller and even more cost-effective.
The modules Bus Terminal (IP 20),EtherCAT Terminal (IP 20) and EtherCAT Box (IP 67) are suitable for direct connection of I/O systems.
Solid design:
Embedded computers are mechanically robust and can be used in harsh environments due to their high resistance to vibrations and shocks. An extended temperature range of -25 … + 60 °C (storage temperature -40 … + 85 °C) is supplied as standard. Therefore, it can also be used in warm places or in particularly cool areas. Due to this rugged and compact design, many application areas and industrial use cases are conceivable.
Scalable performance classes:
The CX series of devices combine the worlds of industrial PCs and hardware PLCs and are suitable for control tasks in any power range. Users will find a suitable device in the embedded PC product range: suitable for budget, performance type and complexity of control tasks. The CX family includes several basic CPU modules with different processors for optimal adaptation to the respective control task. The product portfolio ranges from small controllers with ARM processors to high performance multi-core solutions with Intel ® Xeon ® processors and thus offers users an optimal price-performance ratio .
The most suitable CX controller is selected on the basis of the complexity and expected range of the automation program.
Modular control system for DIN . rails:
Devices from the CX20xx and CX52x0 embedded PC series offer modular expansion options. Depending on the CX type, the controller can be supplemented with expansion modules and – depending on the mission – configured as a modular control system.
Therefore, different applications can be realized on the same hardware, such as PLC and Motion control systems with DVI/USB interface or multimedia systems (building automation) with audio interface.
Optional interface:
Optional interfaces – a feature common to all CX devices of the second generation ( CX9020 , CX5000 , CX5100 , CX5200 , CX20x0 , CX20x2 , CX20x3 ) – can be retrofitted with a wide range of signals. and thus an ideal interface extension for non-modular embedded PCs: the fieldbus interface can include additional expansion modules, optional factory interfaces and Control Panels as display devices can be connected directly via DVI/DP/USB.
Security planning due to optimal availability:
Industry-compatible hardware, a careful selection of exceptional Embedded CPUs, and a stock of carefully conceived components, all aim to ensure Embedded PC availability for more than ten years:
- Available for at least ten years
- The last time can buy after that
- Sustainability due to extended service
Customers benefit from long-term continuity and can produce standard machinery for a long time. As a result, the cost of software changes has been moved to the past and no longer needs to be budgeted.
