In-line X-ray inspection solution for unpackaged product safety and integrity
Applications of X-ray inspection systems for unpackaged products
Mettler oledo Safeline X-ray inspection systems are designed to be used for unpackaged product inspection to ensure the best product quality when it reaches the end consumer. Typically, these systems are designed to inspect bulk, non-bulk packaging products such as nuts, confectionery, snacks and cereals. In addition, the systems are also well-suited to inspecting raw and frozen meats such as beef burgers and fried chicken nuggets.
X-ray inspection to detect physical impurities
X-ray inspection equipment detects impurities such as calcified bone, glass, metal, mineral stone, rubber and high density plastics in non-packaged manufacturing applications. Discarding devices are set up to ensure accurate removal of contaminated product, absolute brand protection and food safety for consumers.
Reduce food waste
When an unpackaged product X-ray inspection system is installed to inspect raw materials, physical impurities can be removed at the source and immediately traced back to the supplier. Early contamination detection is also effective, reducing product waste and costs: defective products can be reworked before ingredients are added and further damage to processing equipment is avoided.
Food quality assurance
X-ray systems should be installed at identified Critical Control Points (CCPs) throughout the production line to ensure nonconforming products are eliminated before adding value. In addition to detecting physical impurities, X-ray technology for flow products also implements additional quality control measures in the line. These unpackaged product X-ray inspection measures include mass measurement and detection of product defects such as shapes, holes and misalignments of homogenous products such as burger patties.
